About Us

The Caravan Park (formerly Tarcoola Caravan Park), was originally built in 1983, and commencement on the redevelopment of what is now The African Reef commenced in 1988.  Over the years it has seen a number of owners all adding their special touch and signature.  This has created an eclectic yet, intimate and relaxed atmosphere.  The current owners are passionate about the potential that The African Reef has to offer and over the next few years you will witness and share in its growth and development.

The African Reef, prides itself on its hospitality and  cleanliness.  The staff at the African Reef are all part of a team, housekeeping, gardening, maintenance, kitchen and restaurant, front of house, reception and management, everyone is a vital link, no-one's job is more or less important than the other.  Together we work to ensure your stay is fun, relaxed, and memorable.

The larger of the two (2) function rooms, œThe Southgate named after the sprawling white sand dunes a couple of kms south, which can be viewed from the south side of the Restaurant.

Geraldton

A leisurely four and a half hour drive from Perth, Geraldton is situated on Champion Bay on a spectacular stretch of coastline known as the Batavia Coast.

With all the major cultural, entertainment and shopping facilities of a rural city but with the relaxed tempo of a country town, Geraldton is a perfect holiday location and an ideal base from which to explore all the Mid West has to offer.

Its magnificent Mediterranean climate makes Geraldton the perfect place to visit all year round.  You'll find mild winters, balmy autumn evenings, summers cooled by regular sea breezes and spring bursting with the freshness of wildflowers blooming under perfect blue skies.

Geraldton offers pristine beaches that have become a mecca for windsurfers and other aquatic lovers.  With the Chapman Valley to the north and the Moresby ranges to the east, the city is uniquely framed. Across the sea from Geraldton lays the mysterious Houtman Abrolhos Islands scene of the famous Batavia mutiny and home to one of nature's most spectacular marine areas.

A port city, Geraldton is the administrative centre of the Mid West and an important stop for any corporate traveller.  It has a diverse industry base from a world leading rock lobster fishery to agriculture, mining, manufacturing, construction, and tourism. And it's not just the commercial fishermen who have great success in Geraldton waters.  Excellent opportunities for recreational fishers exist all year round from beach fishing to deep sea experiences.

The region possesses a rich maritime, natural and social history.  This history has now been captured in a new multi-million dollar museum located on the Batavia Coast Marina. There's an emerging wine industry, local and indigenous arts, stunning wildflowers and so much more.

In fact with so much to offer, when will you next be visiting Geraldton.
